VITALITY
For my 73 years on this earth, I have always thought how blessed I was to have the energy and vitality get up in the morning, to be active, have open and loving relationships with others, and do the work God created me to do with my faith, family (and friends) and my career. Now that I am retired from my day job, it has been my honor to work with my own brother in sharing our experiences and developing other young men who have similar visions with our Foundational Band of Brothers. As we have mentioned in past remarks, it is not only important to have a vision but a vision that we can hold and see come to fruition. This is what gives me the vitality and energy to live.
I have often questioned myself and have been questioned by others as to my personal energy level and stamina for living, as it takes lots of vitality and energy to accomplish our purposes in life. We all “choose” our own path which hopefully leads to joy, gratitude, success, happiness and fulfillment. (Remember, hope is NOT a strategy so plan then attack.) Yes, we all have and will continue to experience setbacks in life. Those setbacks might include spiritual setbacks, mental setbacks and physical setbacks. We all run out of energy and need to stop, reflect, heal, and renew our commitment to the tasks we are given in this life. The opportunities we are given today are boundless and it is up to us to find out; WHO we are and WHO we are becoming (Self-Actualization); where we are going by playing in the right pond (Our Journey): WHO we will take with us (Our relationships); and how prepared we are for our end game in life (Our Legacy).
M. Scott Peck reminds us that; “Life is Difficult; but life is good.” Many of us will play the game of life “Wounded” or in pain. God allows hardships and suffering in our life so that our beliefs will become more real to us. Putting those beliefs into practice by being more intentional, might just be the beginning of something great. (“Try it, you’ll like it”) If life is uncomfortable and hard, then you just might understand where your faith comes into your life. (Are you prepared?) Develop those God given strengths of yours by LIVING the best version of yourself. LOVING more than you have in the past; LAUGHING often; LEARNING to accept WHO you are; LISTENING to sound wisdom; LEADING by developing others and being a good role model; and finally LEAVING a LASTING LEGACY.
What is your energy or vitality level for doing the responsibilities you have been given in life and growing into the person God had in mind when you were created? Webster defines “Vitality” as; “the physical or mental strength and health; the power to live and thrive.” Are you truly alive with great vitality in your faith? If not, start living today a more active life by developing the energy level and vitality you need to, not just survive but to prosper.
