Looking for a Better Future? Then Change your Habits.

JANUARY 6, 2023

Most of us want to live a prosperous and meaningful life. There is no free lunch and life can often be difficult. Try discovering your purpose or meaning in life early on so that when the tough times arrive, you will be prepared for any circumstance. We make life so complex with our emotions and perspectives rather than simplifying our thoughts of WHY we are here. Of course, we all have responsibilities to our faith, our families, and our careers. But if you have an ounce of optimism left in your body after you have completed your tasks, (which will never end) then look to the future. Be curious as to what comes next because if you are going through tough times right now, tomorrow will be brighter. That is a guarantee if you choose to think that way.

I love people who are forward thinking. (and acting) Don’t get hung up living in the past. Yesterday is gone. Today presents a new opportunity to embrace the future and live in HOPE of better things to come rather than dwelling in the past with grief, sorrow, shame along with a huge pity party. Celebrate and be thankful for this life and those that you love. Be a positive influence on them rather than bringing other people into your world of negativity.

We need to grow our bodies, minds, and souls in a healthy way rather than doing what everyone else is doing because of our fear of missing out. We need to know ourselves and that we have value in this world but need to make sure we seek help from others in changing those habits that hold us back from being our best selves. John Maxwell, in his book; “The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth”, reminds us that; “You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.”. That means developing great habits. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments, and that bridge must be crossed every day. Over time, that crossing becomes a habit. Ultimately, people do not decide their future, they decide their habits and their habits decide their future.

Habits can be good or bad for us. You know which ones are good for you and which ones are not. Bad habits can be hard to break. It is often easy for us to justify them or we can procrastinate by saying that we will change things after a certain date. Try working on something today. Do something very small that is easy. Then work on something else. Reward yourself mentally but move forward with discipline because the end result will decide your future.

Looking for a great future ahead? Create that better future by changing a few habits.
