APRIL 15, 2021
As this week’s Elevator Guy remarks go to press, we are preparing for our Foundational Band of Brothers get-together with their fathers on April 28, 2022. We hope this will be an epic meeting where father and son can connect and/or reconnect in their own relationship, by recognizing and sharing their respective wisdom, courage, self-mastery, and love (Our Band of Brothers’ Four Pillars) with one another, and in answering the four main questions all of us should be asking ourselves each and every day:
- WHO are you and WHO are you becoming? (Self-Actualization)
- Where are you going and are you on the right path? (Destiny)
- Who are you taking with you? (Relationships)
- What is your end-game and are you prepared? (Legacy)
Brother Randy and I are not counselors. We are just old teachers with a lot of life’s experiences that are growing, learning, and sharing with others. It has been our honor to work with a group of bright young men, (along with those who might be considering retirement or are already retired), in guiding them to understand the importance of being Authentic men as leaders in their faith, with their families, and in their chosen careers. (Or second careers) That includes unpacking and honoring their “Heritage” as a brother, a leader, a husband, a father, and a son, in order to pass down important family values to the next generation. Don’t have an earthly father? Then find a friend that believes in you and practice finding out WHO you are and what impact you may have on this world. You just might find the Happiness, Balance, Significance, Satisfaction, Fulfillment, Security, and Success you are seeking. Remember; “Your life is not about making money. Your money is about making a life.” Mitch Anthony.
Our hope is that our young men have benefited from our “18 month class” and that they will continue to grow and learn their true calling in life by impacting others. What we want for them is:
- To grow and learn together as men, by living a life of gratitude.
- To learn the basic principles of leadership and teambuilding.
- To help them understand their purpose and mission in life.
- To assist them in connecting with local community leaders.
- To learn the value of a healthy mind, body, and spirit. (Heart)
- To learn to battle life’s obstacles for yourself and with others.
- To learn to inspire, encourage and influence others.
- To learn WHO they are and WHO they are becoming.
- To define for themselves their own meaning of success.
- To Seek wisdom in making good life choices.
- To celebrate and have FUN in life.
- To leave an honorable and righteous legacy
