Freedom Lies in Being BOLD

MAY 6, 2022

“Freedom is Precious” and “Freedom is NOT free” are two sayings I value most about the freedoms all of us are given in this great land. (Remember, someone paid the price for your freedom) According to the Bill of Rights, our freedoms include: Freedom of Speech, the Press, Religion, Assembly, and the right to petition our government. I am not a huge activist, (just a concerned critic)  but to me, our freedoms are basic to our Living, Loving, Laughing, Learning, Listening, Leading and being allowed to Leave a lasting Legacy which is our 7L’s Elevator Guy theme. (Check us out at elevatorguy.net)

This great country of ours has had as its heritage; “One Nation Under God” and was built on: Freedom, Opportunity, and Self-Determination. This is what has made our country the envy of the world and is why people beat down the doors to get in. (or just cross our southern border illegally) While we are all full of our own personal biases and perspectives, please seek your own understanding and don’t rely on my remarks today. Search in your own heart for wisdom, courage,(Being Bold), self-mastery and love; that will propel you to act in a positive and unifying manner. Take the action you feel you need to take in sharing that wisdom and understanding with others. Not to influence but to unify. Don’t use hate speech but don’t be afraid to use your freedoms to come to a positive and rational solution.

You can’t change or save the world overnight, but you may be able to impact those in authority. Don’t demonize our individual freedoms by telling others to “Shut up” if you don’t agree with them. Don’t be a fool but be a spokesperson for Truth, Beauty, Goodness, and Unity. (Thanks Aristotle) If you are really concerned, go sponsor those who you feel have the best interests of the country in mind, rather than those self-serving elites trying to gain power or influence over others in their quest to be relevant or significant. They have their own problems in life. (Question a politician’s real motives?)

According to Jason Whitlock, (Check him out) an African-American sports journalist and culture critic, the “new” goal in America is:

  • Equity; the quality of being fair and impartial. In society, to create conditions that allow all to reach their full potential. (Something we are doing with our Band of Brothers)
  • Inclusion: The act or state of including or being included within a group or structure. (We all want to belong to something. Make it a righteous group that reaches out to others rather than pad the pockets of our so-called leaders.)
  • Diversity: Including or involving people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders, sexual orientation, etc. (Love for our fellow man is admirable if we can accept each other as we are individually. Don’t think like the group. Be yourself and seek understanding rather than judgment. Leave that to the Big Guy.

Don’t be confused by YOUR purpose or freedoms in life with all of the noise being thrown at you. Make sure you are on sure footing with your faith, your family, and your career. Be proactive rather than reactive. Question authority. Be a good listener, lover, and leader when it comes to others. Take a stand but make sure you are firm (Bold) in your understanding of what God intends for you to do. The Big Guy knows best.
