Authentic Men do WHAT?

Last week, we outlined what we are doing with our Foundational Band of Brothers in Session #2 which begins in January 2022. We made an attempt at defining what it means to be an “Authentic Man.” In order to become an Authentic Man, there are certain skillsets that need to be mastered which often take a lifetime. Our suggestion is that you begin today to build on these skillsets. To become an Authentic Man, you must:

  • Have a Vision for your Faith, Your Family, and your Career
  • Have intellect. Not just a high IQ but a strong understanding of your EQ (Emotional Quotient) and other intellectual gifts you already possess.
  • Be resourceful. Life has already given you lots of resources. What are you doing with them?
  • Integrity. Nothing else matters if you are not honest with yourself and others.
  • Finances. Yes, we were made to WORK and be prosperous. But don’t measure yourself by how much you make compared to others. They have their own issues.
  • Self. Learn to discover WHO you are by working daily on your Body, Mind, and Spirit.
  • Style or Personality. We all are different. How are you making YOUR style work for you in a positive manner?
  • Competition. Compete with yourself rather than others in living life. Understand and use your strengths and blind spots. Life will be much more freeing.
  • Leadership and Teambuilding. Many of us have all that we need to be successful. Work at being a good leader and teambuilder by making others successful.
  • Relationships. The most important factor in getting along and influencing others is strong relationships of, commitment, accountability, vulnerability and encouragement. (CAVE)

According to the Huffington Post, a truly authentic person:

  • Recognizes the emptiness of material things
  • Recognizes that experiences make their lives richer
  • Expresses their true thoughts, feelings, and values unapologetically
  • Is not out to please people
  • Sees value in giving to others
  • Loves themselves
  • Is willing to see and acknowledge their own faults
  • Understands that we are all unique and that’s OK
  • Takes responsibility for their lives
  • Takes action NOW

Read, reread and take these points with you on your Daily walk. They are great “Lists for Living” in becoming an authentic person.
