USE TIME WISELY
Our earthly lives are finite. None of us knows when we will hear that final; “Your Time is Up.” What are you doing with YOUR time? Are you trying to cram in every bucket list item by seeking pleasure and happiness or are you “taking the time” to learn more about your purpose and meaning that is a God given gift? Each of us needs to be self-aware when we are “Wasting our time” or whether we are making good use of our time on those priorities in life that give us meaning. Here are a some uses of time that you may want to consider in any season of your life: (in no particular order)
- Make time to Live, Love, Laugh, Learn, Lead, Listen, and Leave a Legacy. (Our Elevator Guy theme)
- Make time to become; Wise, Mastering the Big ME, Courageous and Loving (Our Band of Brothers Four Pillars)
- Make time for your Faith, Family (and friends we call family) and your Career by being balanced in all phases.
- Make time to set your Vision and Goals in life (along with defining “Success” as you want to see it)
- Make time to prepare. (“The ACTION or process of making something ready for use or service”)
- Make time for yourself and others. (We need both)
- Make time to just be present in the moment. (Tomorrow is gone and your next day is uncertain so; “LIVE your best today”)
- Make time for Truth, Beauty, Goodness and Unity (Thanks Aristotle)
- Make time for reflection (Quiet time, Prayer and Meditation)
- Make time to sing, dance, laugh and play. (Moving and Laughing will improve your health)
- Make time to overcome the obstacles in your life. (Be at peace with everything life throws at you. Amor Fati)
- Make time to connect with others. (Life was not meant to be lived alone)
- Make time to ask questions and to express what you really want and need in life. (Be curious rather than cynical)
- Make time to avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret. (Think about how good you have it rather than how bad things are in your life)
- Make time to build on your beliefs (Think Big-Picture. Think Eternity here)
- Make time to do your best. (Don’t shoot to be perfect. There was only one of those in this earthly life)
- Make time to find your purpose in life. (Going through life rudderless, will often take you “out-of-bounds.”)
- Make time to coach others and be coached yourself. (It is not about you anyway. It is ALWAYS about your team)
- Make time to get to know yourself. (You are unique and bring your strengths to the table)
- Make time to show respect to others (and yourself)
- Make time to grow your heart. (Everything you do comes from your heart. Is it wide open or is closed to others?)
- Make time to hold others accountable but be accountable yourself. (Begin with the end in mind)
- Make time to understand others (rather than judge them)
- Make time to build relationships. (Needs of the Spirit)
- Six core human needs are Certainty, Variety, Significance, Love and Connection, Growth, and Contribution
Where and How do you spend YOUR time? With all of today’s conveniences and time saving devices, each one us has the same amount of time during a given day. Are you using it wisely.
